A wounded financial staff of the CPP-NPA terrorists was apprehended at the checkpoint of the government’s security forces in Brgy. Poblacion, Cagwait, Surigao del Sur yesterday, August 21.
Authorities flagged down the red multicab carrying Sarvina R. Quijano a.k.a “Soping”, 46 years old, member of North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee around 3:05 AM. She has injury on her left leg believed to be of gunshot wound.
The driver Jovencito P. Lozada, 52 years old, resident of Brgy. La Purisima, Cagwait town was also apprehended.
The joint operation of the 1st and 2nd Surigao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Companies, Cagwait Municipal Police Station, and Delta Company of the 7th Special Forces stemmed from a tip that a wounded NPA member was transported from Marihatag town to Tandag City, Surigao del Sur for medical treatment.
Confiscated from the suspects were two bags containing three pieces of riffle grenades, improvised explosive device, memory cards, sim cards, and subversive documents.
“We lauded the prompt action of our troops on the ground leading to the arrest of the suspects who will be facing charges for violation of R.A. 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosive). Meanwhile, our investigation is underway to determine whether the suspect was wounded in a skirmish with government troops,” Police Regional Office XIII director Brigadier General Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr underscored.
