World Blood Donors Day In Zambo Got 70 Bags Of Donated Bags

Zamboanga City – In observance of the World Blood Donors Day yesterday, June 14, the Philippine Red Cross and the ZCMC Blood conduct the Mobile Blood Donation collecting a total of 70 units of blood for the activities done at the PRC headquarters in Pettit Barracks and at Barangay Pasonanca multi-purpose covered court.

Of the total units of blood collected, 28 units were collected during the Red Cross activity  while 42 units were collected during the ZCMC-initiated activity in Pasonanca. The donors included the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity-Curuan chapter, Zeta Phi Omega by Mr. Romel Natividad, Pledge 25 members (young group from 17-25 years old), City Health Office personnel and walk-in donors.

WBDD is initiated by the National Voluntary Blood Services with the aim of “creating public awareness on the need for regular a non remunerated blood donation, the campaign aims to strengthen community.”

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle “Beng” Climaco-Salazar thanked the donors for sharing their precious blood to save other people’s lives. She reaffirmed her commitment to support and advocate for voluntary blood donation and to sustain annual subsidy to the Red Cross.
