DOH Caraga received the RT-PCR Confirmatory tests results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), one sample tested Positive for COVID-19.
This is a 10-year-old, female, Filipino from Butuan City, with no signs and symptoms, and no travel history; however, in close contact to an individual who attended the Araw ng Dabaw six-cock Derby in New Davao Matina Gallera last March.
The confirmed case is one of the six samples of the third batch of the Rapid Antibody Tests (who were positive for IgG Antibody) that was conducted by the city government of Butuan wherein the other five tested Negative in the RT-PCR Test.
Oropharyngeal swabs were taken and were forwarded to the regional office and then to the RITM since Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) is still to secure reagents during that time of collection. The fourth batch of samples was already sent, yesterday, April 21, 2020 to SPMC after reagents were available.
