Tribal Centers Turned-Over To The IP Communities in Talaingod


DAVAO DEL NORTE:  The 56th Infantry “TATAG” Battalion headed by LTC Norman Valdez INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, together with COL Nolasco Mempin INF (GSC) PA, Commander 1003rd Bde, OPAPP, DSWD FO XI, Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA), LGU Talaingod and BLGU participated in the blessing and turn-over ceremony of tribal centers at So Hangelo of Brgy Dagohoy, Brgy Dagohoy proper and So JBL, Brgy Sto Niño,Talaingod, Davao del Norte on March 11, 2020.

Through the EO No 70 or the Whole-of-Nation Approach, these tribal centers for the Indigenous People (IP) communities are one of the complimentary projects implemented by OPAPP and DSWD through Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) which aimed to preserve the cultural heritage of the Ata-Manobos in Talaingod.

Mr Alfredo M Sy, DSWD XI Assistant Regional Director for Operations said that the project will not be possible without the help of the dedicated people in promoting peace and development in the Municipality.

LTC VALDEZ encouraged the community to continue their support on the endeavors of the government in its aim to uplift the socio-economic status of the IPs. He further reminded the tribal leaders to perform their duties and responsibilities for the benefit of IP communities by supporting the programs of the government.

The collaboration of the different National Agencies, Local Government Units, and stakeholders through the implementation of the projects in the far-flung communities is a clear manifestation of the sincerity of the government in looking into the welfare of the Indigenous People and Ending the Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) through the delivery of services to Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAS).

Hon Jonnie A Libayao expressed his gratitude to the National Agencies and Stakeholders on the unending support and care for the IPs in Talaingod.
