Davao City: A 24-year-old asymptomatic coronavirus (Covid-19) female patient who sneaked out from Queensland on May 9, 2020 at around 2:00 PM was successfully recovered by the members of the tracker team of Talomo Police Station led by PLtCol Ronald L Lao, Station Commander, and under the supervision of City Director, PCOL KIRBY JOHN B KRAFT.
According to PLtCol Lao, upon the report of the escape, this office immediately conducted follow-up operation, especially that there was a standing order from City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio Duterte and DCPO City Director to all members of Davao City police force to locate and search for the runaway patient. Then, latest information gathered by the tracker team of this station revealed that a similar facial composite was sighted in Balusong, Matina Crossing which led to her recovery.
Further, after an hour of search, patient was sighted alone, hiding in an unattended 16-wheeler truck in Balusong, Matina Crossing and she was held in custody while taking the necessary precautions to prevent infections.
Meanwhile, the patient is now being turned-over to Queensland Isolation Facility.
Talomo Police Station Station Commander said that aside from their relentless efforts to locate the patient, vigilance from the community played a very important role to her discovery.
“Pinatutukan ko po ito sa aking mga intelligence officers. Our team coordinated with the medical officers manning the facility and some relatives of the patient to carry out this task.”
He emphasized that the tracker team was formed to serve the public interest and would work according to the guidelines of IATF.
“A runaway patient poses a serious threat to public health so we deal this case with a matter of urgency. Likewise, public’s cooperation and vigilance is highly encouraged,” he ended.
