DESPITE the economic ravages wrought by the pandemic, the Taguig City local government is making sure that the confidence level of businesses in the city remains high as it sees Singapore as a model on economic recovery.

Taguig City Mayor Edgardo Cayetano and Ambassador of Singapore to the Philippines Gerard Ho met recently and discussed the challenges to economic recovery at SM Aura Office Tower in BGC.

Similar to Singapore, Cayetano continues to encourage Taguigeños to adapt in the new normal by gradually shifting people’s mindset to living with the virus and to develop behavioral changes such as wearing of facemasks and social distancing.

Cayetano said that the city was able to collect P10-billion revenues, which was over its target, even in the pandemic and exceeded the projections of the Bureau of Local Government Finance.

In the same event, Filinvest Land Inc. Director Francis Gotianun turned over a total of 180,000 medical-grade surgical facemasks to Taguig as part of the Temasek Foundation’s Stay Masked Program where they donated 2 million facemasks to the Philippines.

Temasek Foundation is the non-profit philanthropic arm of Singapore’s investment company Temasek Holdings. It has been partnering with Filinvest in providing donations of medical supplies and accessories to contribute to the country’s fight against Covid-19.

Taguig has also vaccinated 242 Filinvest employees and 15 employees from the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore.
