Surigao: Port cops and government agents Intercepts P450K worth of undocumented onions in Lipata Port

Surigao City – Port Police Operatives and agents of the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Plant Quarantine discovered PHP450 thousand worth of undocumented fresh red onions loaded in a reefer truck at the Lipata Ferry Terminal in Surigao City Friday, 23 February 2023.

Save for a letter issued by a company named Suncrest Food Incorporated stating that the onions were to be delivered to the Republic Biscuit Company (REBISCO) factory in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, no other documents, particularly the Clearance for Domestic Transport of Plant/Planting Materials and Planting Products issued by the Bureau of Plant Quarantine, were presented to show legitimacy.

The seized onions were sent back to Valenzuela City, the point of origin, in accordance with policies prohibiting the entry of undocumented agricultural products.
