Officials from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Region 13 paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II, extending a formal invitation for the Maritime Safety Culture Awareness Caravan set to take place on October 15, 2024. The visit underscored MARINA’s commitment to collaborating with the City Government in promoting maritime safety initiatives.
Leading the MARINA delegation were Supervising SOS Maria Roselyn P. Castaño, Attorney III Sherrylyn A. Famador, SBS II Christine May D. Limpangog, and Accountant I Cherishmae B. Eliot. City Councilor Joenil Aldonza was also present during the meeting.
The Maritime Safety Culture Awareness Caravan is a nationwide campaign running simultaneously across all MARINA offices. The initiative is a key component of the Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP 2019-2028) and aims to strengthen safety practices within the maritime sector through community partnerships and public engagement.
Mayor Dumlao expressed his support for the initiative, acknowledging its relevance to Surigao’s coastal communities and maritime industry.
