Surigao City – After hitchhiking his way from as far as General Santos City for days, Julius Ferolino finally gets to sail home to Hinunangan town in Southern Leyte as kindhearted persons at the Lipata Ferry Terminal arranged for his passage on board MV Adrian Jude of Santa Clara Shipping Lines, Tuesday morning, April 11.

According to Ferolino, he was lucky to get a free ride from a good Samaritan while trying to hitchhike his way to Surigao City and hope to sail home to Southern Leyte from the city’s Lipata Ferry Terminal. Upon reaching Surigao City, the good Samaritan who gave him the free ride advised him to seek help from the DSWD.

Armed with a letter from the DSWD requesting transport assistance, Ferolino approached PPA personnel at the Lipata Ferry Terminal for help. As luck would have it, PMO Surigao Acting Port Manager Froilan Caturla was on site for his regular visit, and readily offered to pay for his passage ticket, food, and water.

The Port Security Team of the Lipata Ferry Terminal made all the necessary arrangements, ensured his safety and comfort until he finally went on board MV Adrian Jude for the voyage home.
