Surigao: Governor Robert Lyndon S. Barbers presided the Local Price Coordinating Council 1st Quarter Meeting

The Provincial Local Price Coordinating Council meeting was conducted this morning, March 30, 2023 to discuss and come up measures in addressing the high prices of basic and prime commodities, especially the prices of agricultural and marine products in the Province of Surigao del Norte.

Below are some of the agreements during the meeting.

  1. Conduct of quarterly Provincial LPCC meeting;
  1. Conduct of consultative meeting with the presence of LCEs, concerned agencies, fisherfolks, and other stakeholders to discuss issues and concerns on the pricing and supply of marine products;
  1. Conduct of regular inspections to monitor compliance to price tag law, weighing scale calibration and other forms of illegal price manipulation in the public markets;
  1. Passing of an ordinance on the following:
  2. a) Creation of the LPCC enforcement and monitoring team.
  1. b) Mandatory implementation of price tag on products for sale to the Public, including marine and agricultural products.
  1. c) Mandatory calibration of weighing scales;
  1. d) Operationalization of all Fish Landing in the province.
  1. e) Creation of Price Range for aquamarine and agricultural products which can be reviewed and amended annually.
  1. The provincial LPCC will encourage the City and municipal LGUs for the establishment of two (2) Price Billboards, one at the fishlanding and at the public market.
  1. Encourage concerned offices and LGUs for the presentation of consumer advocacy materials at the PPA ports, airports and bus terminals; and
  1. To establish more bagsakan centers in order to have a venue where farmers can directly sell their agricultural products.
