The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) of the Department of Agriculture Caraga Region has established a Farmer’s Information and Technology Service (FITS) center in Surigao City. This center is designed to provide local farmers and fisherfolks with easy access to the latest agricultural information and techniques.

Amelita Dela Cerna, Acting City Agriculturist, expressed gratitude for the donation of ICT equipment and information education campaign (IEC) materials.

ATI has contributed a new television, laptop, speaker, and Android cellphones, which will greatly aid in conducting seminars and transactions in remote barangays.

The FITS center aims to equip farmers with practical science-based information and technology services, contributing to enhanced food security.

Moreover, the FITS Center will serve as a vital information hub at the barangay level, offering Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) and rice-related information and technology services. This initiative seeks to raise awareness and understanding among farmers about the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL) and other rice-related programs and services provided by the agriculture department.

The FITS Center in Surigao City is conveniently located at the City Agriculture Office within the City Hall Compound. This strategic placement ensures easy accessibility for the local farming community.
