Surigao: DILG Secretary Abalos and local officials will lead the turn-over of projects under SBDP

DILG Secretary, Atty. Benjamin Abalos, Jr., together with DILG Caraga regional director Lilibeth Famacion, Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago Cane, Jr., and other local officials will lead the turn-over of projects under the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) to Liga President Glenn Plaza, in time with today’s Awarding Ceremony of Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Beneficiaries to 199 Former Rebels, at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center, Gov. D. O. Plaza Government Center, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The former-rebel beneficiaries of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) from Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Butuan City are now gathered at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, ready for today’s Awarding Ceremony of E-CLIP Beneficiaries, and Turn-over of projects under the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP).

Masaksihan karong adlawa ang pagdawat sa mga former rebels sa mga benepisyo gikan sa gobyerno. Adunay 199 ka former rebels gikan sa probinsya sa Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, ug Butuan City ang modawat sa cash and livelihood assistance ilalom sa Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago Cane, Jr., acknowledged all the local chief executives from various provinces of Caraga region, heads and representatives of the different government agencies, and other guests and visitors during today’s Awarding Ceremony of Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to Former Rebels at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center, Gov. D. O. Plaza Government Center, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

He stressed that the former rebels should be able to reintegrate back in the mainstream society. “On behalf of the people of Agusan del Sur, we are happy to welcome the former rebels, who have surrendered to the folds of the law,” he said.

Gov. Cane also thanked DILG Secretary, Atty. Benjamin Abalos, Jr. for his presence in today’s event in the province.

Assistant Regional Director Donald Seronay of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Caraga, bared during today’s Awarding Ceremony of Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Beneficiaries to 199 Former Rebels at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center, Gov. D. O. Plaza Government Center, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, that the former rebels have received the DILG administered package; Halfway houses and reintegration assistance; Assistance as provided by partner agencies such as the OPAPP, DSWD, PHIC, DOH, DA, NGA, DepEd, CHED, TESDA, DTI, DOLE, CDA, PSA, LBP, DBM, DPWH, DOJ, NCIP, PCOO, PIA, and LGUs, among others.

“There have been a total of 1,465 former rebels from the different provinces of Caraga from year 2018 to 2022, who were awarded with the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP – DILG Administered Packages,” said Seronay.

DILG Caraga regional director Lilibeth Famacion, administered the oath-taking of the former rebels from various provinces of the region, during today’s Awarding Ceremony of Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to Former Rebels at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center, Gov. D. O. Plaza Government Center, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The former rebels vowed to support the government and the implementation of developmental programs and projects; condemn the CPP-NPA-NDF; and to advocate for peace and development in their respective communities.

DILG Secretary, Atty. Benjamin Abalos, Jr., assured the former rebels that with the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., they will be taken cared of, and the government will continue to assist them as they return to the mainstream society.

“Mahirap man ang trabaho natin [sa DILG] pero magiging masaya tayo kung tayo’y magkakaisa tungo sa kapayapaan sa ating komunidad, lalo na’t may programang tulad ng E-CLIP na malaking tulong para sa ating mga former rebels,” said Sec. Abalos.
