Early yesterday, March 7, joint operating troops composed of personnel from Barobo Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Provincial Special Operations Group of Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 13, arrested an illegal drugs personality listed in top 10 Priority Target as High-Value Individual of Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 and confiscated ₱ 141,600.00 total worth of shabu during the implementation of Search Warrant in Barobo, Surigao del Sur.
POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR., PRO13 Director identified the arrested person as Rene T. Ameril, 62 years old, resident of Purok 2, Brgy. Poblacion, Barobo, Surigao del Sur.
Armed with Search Warrant No.2021-35 issued by Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region, Branch 41, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur dated March 6, 2021, the operating troops launched the operation around 5:00 AM, which resulted in the confiscation of one sachet of suspected shabu having an estimated weight of 12 grams and arrest of the suspect.
Ameril is currently in the custody of Barobo MPS, while a case for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being prepared for filing in court against him.
“The relentless efforts of PNP Caraga against illegal drugs and illegal drug personalities is in line with the marching orders of the Chief, Philippine National Police, POLICE GENERAL DEBOLD M. SINAS, who strongly supports the anti-drug campaign of President Duterte administration,” PBGEN CARAMAT, JR said.
