Surigao del Norte Police dismantle Illegal Gambling Rings: Five Individuals arrested in separate operations

Through coordinated operations, the police authorities of the General Luna and Dapa Municipal Police Stations apprehended five individuals charged with illegal gambling in a separate operation yesterday.

Provincial Director, Police Colonel Laudemer M Laude, identified the two suspects as a 32-year-old male married fisherman, a resident of Poblacion, General Luna Town, and a 42-year-old construction worker, a resident of Barangay Baybay, Burgos Town.

The General Luna operatives arrested these two individuals for violation of PD 449 (illegal cockfighting), locally known as “Tare-Tare,” yesterday at 2:25 PM in Barangay Catangnan, General Luna town.

During the operation, the police operatives confiscated the bet money totaling Php 1500.00 in various denominations, two lifeless fighting cocks, and one piece of gaff.

Meanwhile, the province’s top cop identified these three suspects from Dapa town as a 63-year-old male, married, porter; a 32-year-old male; and a 46-year-old male, married, construction worker.

They were apprehended around 3:30 p.m. in Punta Kawit 1, Barangay 1, Poblacion, Dapa town; for involvement in illegal card gambling “tong-its.”.

Playing cards and betting money in various denominations totaling Php510.00 were confiscated from the suspects.

“I commend the swift action of our Surigao Norte Police for their vigilance and dedication. To the Surigaonons, your cooperation is invaluable in our mission to uphold peace and order.
