Surigao del Norte cops apprehended eleven individuals for illegal gambling in separate ops

Police authorities of Surigao City, Claver, and Del Carmen apprehended eleven individuals charged with illegal gambling in separate operations on January 4 and 5.

Provincial Director, Police Colonel Laudemer M. Laude identified that all six female suspects are residents of Del Carmen town in Siargao Islands.

The personnel of the Del Carmen MPS arrested these six suspects for violation of PD 1602, caught in the act of engaging in illegal gambling activity locally known as “tong-its” last January 4 at 4:00 PM.

During the operation, the police operatives confiscated the bet money totaling Php 2,280.00 cash in different denominations; and three sets of 156 pieces of playing cards.

Meanwhile, the province top cop identified these two suspects from Surigao City as Rogelio Manque Asilum, 46, Pedrito Ronquilla Gasta, 74, both residents of Purok Kahoy, Barangay Ipil, Surigao City.

The operation conducted by Surigao City police caught the act. It resulted in the arrest of two individuals for illegal gambling cards, also known as “tong-its,” in Purok Kahoy, Barangay Ipil, Surigao City.

Playing cards and betting money in various denominations totaling Php700.00 were confiscated from the suspects.

In another operation, the cops of Claver MPS arrested three suspects Reneboy Morales Biñas, 47, Lucy Leyros Piosang, 47, and Alfreda Febrero Rivas, 57, both residents of Barangay Ladgaron, Claver, Surigao del Norte.

A caught-in-the-act operation conducted by Claver MPS resulted in the arrest of three individuals for illegal gambling cards, also known as “tong-its,” yesterday at 2:30 PM in Barangay Ladgaron, Claver town.

Confiscated from the suspects were playing cards and betting money in various denominations totaling Php 609.00.

“Our increased campaign against the spread of illegal gambling activities expresses our sincere efforts to ensure the community’s well-being. We will continue the fight against all forms of illegal gambling activities. We will further sustain our efforts with our strong will and determination to build a more stable and peaceful province,” PD Laude said.

The suspects are in the custody of the apprehending stations for proper disposition.
