Dr. Arlene Felizarta Announced The Zero Active Case Of Covid-19 In Surigao Del Norte.
TO ALL SURIGAONONS
FINALLY, THE PROVINCE OF SURIGAO DEL NORTE IS OFFICIALLY FREE OF COVID-19 CONFIRMED CASES!
As of Sept 1, 2020, out of the 98 RT-PCR confirmed cases in the province (83 cases) and city (15 cases), 100% or 98 cases are already cleared and recovered. The last 2 active cases already completed their 14 days strict facility quarantine and were asymptomatic hence were discharged from the provincial quarantine facility and were already integrated with their families just like the previous 96 others, mostly LSIs (locally stranded individuals).
Further, the RT-PCR results from SPMC swabbed last Aug 19, 24 and 26 were ALL NEGATIVE!
However positive this development might be that we have reached this far without local transmission, IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME that this situation changes to anything bad and worse (God forbid…). It all depends on how we act after today and what we decide our future will be. COMPLACENCY should not have a place in all these. Instead, let us make trending and “viral” DISCIPLINE, VIGILANCE and CARE FOR SELF and OTHERS while practicing the health protocols that work and are proven protective.
Despite fear and uncertainties, WE all have contributed to this success for the last 6 months when together we fought this unseen enemy COVID-19 and kept our homes and province safe. The daunting CHALLENGE ahead is REAL but what is more real than that is ALL SURIGAONONS will relentlessly continue to work together and sustain these gains. Let us also help and pray for our neighboring provinces and cities especially those with local transmission already.
