In an intensified joint buy-bust operation, the Surigao City Police Drug Enforcement Unit and members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a high-value drug suspect yesterday, April 21.
Police Colonel Laudemer M. Laude, Provincial Director, recognized the suspect as a “Kakay” male, single, 44 years old, single, utility worker and a resident of Barangay Taft, Surigao City.
In Purok Venus San Nicolas Corner Diez Street, Barangay Taft, Surigao City, at around 9:00 p.m. yesterday, the Surigao City Police Drug Enforcement Unit and members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a high-value drug suspect in a joint buy-bust operation that violated Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
According to the record of Surigao City police, the suspect, tagged as a high-value individual, was arrested by a warrant of arrest in 2014, charged with violating R.A. 9165 implemented in 2013, and released after availing of a plea bargaining agreement in 2023.
The confiscated items from the operation were ten small and medium plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of more or less 1.5 grams and a total standard drug price of Php10,200.00; one piece of genuine Php1,000.00 bills as marked money; a black sling bag; a black coin purse; and an ID card.

We urge you all Surigaonons to join us in the fight against drugs by saying no to illegal substances and reporting those illegal drug traders roaming in our province, to protect our children’s future and to have a drug-free Surigao del Norte,” PD Laude said.
The arrested suspect and the confiscated drug and non-drug pieces of evidence are now under the custody of Surigao City Police Station for proper disposition. (Mark James Lisondra)
