The City Government of Surigao has partnered with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to comprehensively assess the Mariculture Park in Brgy. Nabago.
Led by Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II, Vice Mayor Alfonso S. Casurra, and Acting City Agriculturist Amelita Dela Cerna, the collaboration aims to enhance aquatic resource management.
Central to the assessment is a technical and environmental survey underway at the Nabago Mariculture Park. This evaluation is pivotal in securing the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC), emphasizing a commitment to ecological sustainability and regulatory compliance.
The Mariculture Zone provides an ideal setting for cultivating diverse finfish species through sea cage cultures, along with activities such as seaweed farming, aquasilviculture, mussel culture, pearl culture, and innovative sea ranching practices.
This collaboration underscores the dedication of BFAR and the Surigao City Government to revitalizing aquatic resources, empowering local communities, and fostering sustainable practices for a prosperous future.
