Surigao: CARAGA cops arrest more than 2K suspects from January to June 2022

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City – POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M CARAMAT, JR, Police Regional Office 13 Director, thru POLICE COLONEL JAMES T GOFORTH, Chief of the Regional Operations Division (ROD) 13, reported the arrest of a total of 2,067 suspects on its intensified anti-criminality and anti-terrorism campaign from January to June 2022 during Flag Raising Ceremony held at this camp early morning today, July 11.

Based on the record from ROD13, a total of Php5,797,272.00 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in the 179 anti-illegal drugs operations conducted that led to the arrest of 184 drug personalities, while Php218,984.00 bet money were seized from 441 arrested personalities during the 199 anti-illegal gambling operations conducted region-wide.

In the hunt for persons with standing warrants of arrest, PRO13 accounted 1,560 wanted persons with 343 categorized as most wanted in the regional, provincial, city, and municipal level.

While 231,292 board feet of logs amounting to Php7,754,404.00 were confiscated during the 230 anti-illegal logging operations conducted that led to the arrest of 111 personalities.

Also, 262 members of the Communist Terrorist Group were neutralized wherein 64 of them were arrested while 198 surrendered with 86 firearms to different police units in Caraga.

On the campaign against loose firearms, this PRO arrested 50 suspects and confiscated a total of 736 small arms and light weapons.

Aside from these, PCOL GOFORTH emphasized the resilience of PRO13 in its rehabilitation efforts after the devastation of Typhoon Odette, the successful conduct of 2022 National and Local Elections in the region and the continuing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These significant gains in the anti-criminality and anti-terrorism campaign are attributed to the dedication to duty and commitment of all the men and women of Police Regional Office 13 to serve and protect the people,” RD CARAMAT JR emphasized.

The region’s top cop also acknowledged the strong support and cooperation of the public in the PNP’s efforts to maintain peace and order in the region.
