Surigao: Board member Catherine Gopico miduso nan kausaban sa Provincial Ordinance no. 08 series of 2020

Board Member Gopico:

Mr. Chairman, it is my humble opinion that there is an urgent need to amend the provision of Provincial Ordinance No. 08, Series of 2020, under Section 12.2 on the Transport of fuel going to Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands, which provides, that:

1. a) Only a maximum of two (2) fuel tankers with a maximum capacity of 20,000 liters for each tanker, will be loaded for every voyage of Roll-on-Roll-off vessel or other kind of vessel carrying the same.“

That this limitation be removed to do away with the impression that we are limiting the supply of fuel in the islands that caused the high price of fuel basing on the law of supply and demands, (which is self-explanatory).

As such, Mr. Chairman, I would like to move that Letter (a) of the aforesaid section be amended to read as follows:

1. a) Roll-on-Roll-off vessel may be allowed to carry several fuel tankers provided it is within the capacity of the vessel’s allowable cargo.
