Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation (THPAL) and 49 Senior High School Students from the province of Surigao del Norte signed a maximum of five-year Special Scholarship program at G-Ann’s Diner, Claver, Surigao del Norte last April 29, 2023. The signing is witnessed by the proud parents of the young students.
These New Special Scholars of THPAL undergone a rigorous selection process from application, examination, and interview. There were 217 student applicants and only 143 qualified for the examination. And out of 143 students who took the examination only 52 students passed. Out of 52 students who were interviewed only 49 fortunate students qualified to become the New THPAL Special Scholars.

“The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet” quoted from classical philosopher Aristotle as shared by Eric V. Macabenta, the Sr. Public Relations Officer of THPAL in his management inspirational message. “This will tell us that to reach our goal, there will always be a process, and hardships are part of it and that makes us who wanted to become” he added.
Mrs. Mary Grace Tadulan, a teacher and mother of one of the new scholars said in her thanksgiving message “We really need stakeholders, and thanks THPAL for having a Program like this. Rest assured that in my speaking engagement in the division of Surigao del Norte, I will always tell the people of Surigao del Norte how lucky we are that we have THPAL with us.”
The Special Scholarship program is part of the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) implementation of THPAL under the Development of Mining Technology and Geosciences (DMTG) which aims to develop and contribute to human capital.
