Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor said he will not stop until justice is attained for the death of his elder brother, the late Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Renato Malabor Sr.

Malabor told reporters that the coming out of whistleblower Marianni Salazar is a welcome development.

Salazar, who admitted to being a former illegal drug courier, recently named a local official as the mastermind in the ambush-slay of Renato Malabor who was shot to death at Barangay Maytubig in the town in June 2015.

Mayor Malabor said they have been yearning for justice for so long.

“We are still in grief until now,” he said.

Renato was also a former mayor of Isabela for three terms before he ran and won a seat in the provincial board in 2013.

Mayor Malabor said that Salazar’s testimony is a corroborating factor in the cases filed against the suspects in the murder of his older brother.

He said that the case is moving slow “because the mastermind has connections in key government agencies”.

The mayor said he is not losing hope that eventually the death of his elder brother will be given justice.

He also lamented that some people are afraid even to mention the name of the alleged mastermind.

The provincial government has put up a P1-million bounty – P500,000 from the provincial board and another P500,000 from the municipality of Isabela – for informants who can identify the person or persons behind the ambush-slay.* (NDB)
