Southern Philippines (SOPHIL) Deep Sea Fishing Association is asking the local government to fast track its Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination as they see the importance of vaccination.
“For the LGU, we highly recommend to really fast-track the vaccination.” Jaydrick Yap, SOPHIL President said.
He said, the city’s big gym to include in the barangays may be used to vaccinate more individuals everyday.
The president stressed that vaccination is very important in the fishing industry because if one gets infected by the virus, everyone will be affected. This will mean swab test and quarantine.
They are also encouraging employees especially in the canning and fishing sector to have themselves vaccinated.
It is required for the said sector to be vaccinated especially they are handling food.
“Vaccination really helps its guaranteed di tayo magkakasevere Covid at death.” Yap said.
In the said sector, less than 300 were vaccinated according to Yap.
There are 16,000 employees in the fishing sector and 11 canning factories in the city.
