SK Tiguma Conducts The First Judging For Urban Gardening Contest

Pagadian City – Sangguniang Kabataan of Tiguma headed by Hon. Crisjhon S. Viray with the support of Barangay Council under the leadership of Hon. Argenia L. Verdida conducted the first judging for urban gardening competition dubbed as Project Barangayanihan in line with the celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan 2021 with the theme “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health” at Barangay Tiguma, Pagadian City.

Project Barangayanihan is one of the flagship projects of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Tiguma inspired by Urban Gardening Program of the City Government of Pagadian, enabling Filipino Youth in Agriculture and food security through Urban Gardening and highlights youth participation in proving and promoting production of vegetables for healthy nutrition during the pandemic, at the same time introduce easy adaptable planting strategies in the comfort of limited urban settings. Rooted in Goal 2 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – to “End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture”

The contest was participated by 13 out of 14 zones in the first judging. Each group worked hard for a competitive garden layout/design, crop care, cleanliness, maintenance and sustainability.

OIC-Tourism Officer Gerardo San Pablo, City Agriculture urban gardening coordinator Mr. Marlon A. Canillo, City Agriculture-High Value Coordinator Jessa A. Banglos, ATI-Training Specialist II Mr. Julito Cordova and ATI-High Value Coordinator Maylene Spinoza, are the judges for the said contest.

The second judging will be on August 28, 2021.
