MORE than 4,000 kids and parents joined the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) Kids Dash in Singapore Friday as the event returned to its full physical format after a two-year pandemic hiatus.

Children aged 2 to 12, together with their parents, raced 650 meters starting from the iconic F1 Fit Building with Eric Chua—Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Social and Family Development—also participating in the run alongside members of SportCares.

“The high spirits at the starting point of the Kids Dash were palpable and it was an uplifting experience to witness the children and their parents bonding over sports,” Chia said. “It’s why we continue working with the sport sector to organise mass sporting events like the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, to Singaporeans to bring families, friends and the community together, and to encourage a healthier lifestyle.”

Keith Magnus, Board Member of Sport Singapore (SportSG) and co-chair of the SportCares
Advisory Board, and Marcus Tan, chief of Sport Development Group, were also present to flag off the Kids Dash.

SportCares is the philanthropic arm of Sport Singapore (SportSG) that aims to facilitate sports philanthropy and volunteerism, broaden and extend sports access to the vulnerable segments in society as well as help bridge communities.
