Personnel from Theft and Robbery Unit (TRU), Intelligence Operatives and duty investigator of this station were able to arrest the suspect identified as Michael Gringin Sering, male, 58 years old, employee of INSTAWIN PAGCOR, Casino, and a resident of 00514, Burgos St., Brgy. Washington, Surigao City for the crime of Qualified Theft. Apprehension took place around 6:00PM in Burgos Street, Brgy. Washington, Surigao City that transpired around 2:30 PM, of January 4, 2021 along Magallanes Street, Brgy. Washington, Surigao City.
Investigation revealed that on January 4, 2021 the aforesaid arrested suspect reported to this office that he was allegedly robbed by the two male unidentified suspects and carted away his cash money amounting to One Hundred Nine Thousand Pesos (₱ 109, 000.00).
Thus, this office conducted relentless follow-up operation and in depth investigation regarding the reported alleged robbery incident. Investigating team found that the said suspect intentionally and deliberately invented false information or report to deceive the authorities on his evil motive in taking the said cash money which was entrusted to him by the INSTAWIN PAGCOR owner purposely to deposit it to the Banco De Oro (BDO) that resulted in his arrest. Recovered from his possession and control the stolen remaining cash money amounting to Fifty Eight Thousand Pesos (₱ 58, 000.00) in different denomination. Further, revealed that said suspect was previously noted due to his discrepancy in their company. Motive of the incident is intent to gain.
Arrested suspect was informed of his Constitutional Rights as construed in the Miranda Doctrine and the nature of his arrest to the language known to him and the Anti-Torture Act, the same brought to Surigao City Police Station together with the recovered cash money for documentation and filing of case.
