Sinuspindi ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang proseso ng pagpapadeport sa mga Chinese drug convicts na pinalaya sa pamamagitan ng Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA).
Sa hearing ng senado, sinabi ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra na mananatili sa Bureau of Immigration ang mga napalayang drug convicts hanggat hindi natatapos ang review sa GCTA.
Ayon kay Guevarra, kasama sa kanilang pinag-aaralan ang posibilidad na mabawi ang kalayaan na naibigay sa mga convicts.
And we still have to deal with the very sensitive question of what to do with PDLs who might have committed heinous crimes but who might have already been released. So, that is a very sensitive and complicated legal question, it may involve constitutional issues if I may say. Maybe, it’s kind ‘a, premature for me to make a very definitive answer to your question,” ani Guevarra.
