PROCOR strongly condemns discovery 8 Human Remains in Benguet

PROCOR CAMP BADO DANGWA:  PROCOR strongly condemns in its highest sense, the perpetrator/s of the discovered six cadavers and two skeletal remains which were found in Benguet.

On October 15, 2019 five cadavers and two human skeletons were discovered by residents and police operatives in a 30 meters deep ravine and with more or less 60 degrees slope along Marcos Highway, Poyopoy, Taluy Sur, Tuba, Benguet

According to the SOCO’s initial findings, four of the cadavers have been dead for at least two weeks while the other one is believed to have been in that place for almost a month. The skeletal remains were also found to be a year old.

Around 10:22 AM, October, 16, 2019, another cadaver was recovered at the same site which is now subject for post mortem examination. All the human remains are males. One of the cadavers was identified by his father and brother as Fahad Manan Macalanggan, 28, native of Maranao and a resident of Pinewood, Crystal Cave, Baguio City. The cadaver was identified through his tattoos on his right and left arms. All the human remains were brought to the Damayan Funeral Homes, Marcos Highway, Baguio City.

PBGen Israel Ephraim T Dickson, PROCOR Regional Director, has directed Benguet PPO Provincial Director, PCol Elmer E Ragay, to exert effort and leave no stone unturned if only to unmask the perpetrators of this case and eventually solve the same.

Initially, Benguet PPO had reached out to all PPOs and nearby provinces to relay any information on reported missing persons in their AOR which can help in the speedy identification of the other cadavers; moreover, the PD created a task force under his leadership to undertake the thorough investigation of the case.

Even as efforts are being made to identify the unidentified human remains, PBGen Dickson expressed his heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. “I believe that every human being has the right to life and due process. This gruesome development at Poyopoy strongly indicates that the eight human beings may have been deprived of these rights. PROCOR shall do all it can to identify the cadavers and skeletal remains for the sake of their families and help them seek justice and find closure”, he said.
