Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet – At least 36 families of Tublay and Bokod were the beneficiaries of the Police Regional Office Cordillera’s “Badang Kabuhayan Project”, a program under the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15) which aims to promote sustainable livelihood for targeted beneficiaries.

The RMFB15 through the 1505th Maneuver Company – Community Affairs Section crafted the said program to ensure that the family has a steady source of living amidst the pandemic. In the height of the Enhanced Community Quarantine where people’s livelihoods are affected and movements are restricted, police personnel went the extra mile to help those badly affected by the pandemic, aside from the grocery items provided to meet their immediate needs.

With the amount collected from the personal contributions of RMFB15 troops, a Free Range Poultry Farm was established at Barangay Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet which includes a 45-ft long poultry house and a bungalow to house the carers.  After coordination with the Veterinary Medicine Department of Benguet State University, 400 Sasso chicks were brought and distributed to fifteen (15) selected families including out-of-school youth. Continuous monitoring is conducted to ensure the program’s sustainability.

Further, in consonance with the 18-Day Campaign to end Violence against Women, the “Badang Kabuhayan II” was launched in Brgy. Ekip, Bokod, Benguet. This is a joint project with TESDA-CAR which aims to empower women’s group, organize and mobilize them to put up their own bakery shop. To equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills, 21 women participated in a Five-day training on Bread and Pastry Making held at Ekip Barangay Hall on December 7 to 11, 2020.

An oven set, gas tank and other baking materials were initially provided by the TESDA as start-up for the select beneficiaries.

As part of their mandate in the whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflict, PROCOR’s RMFB15 teams up with other government agencies in bridging their programs to the areas within the region that are susceptible to NPA terrorists deceptive propaganda. (PROCOR PIO)
