₱13,020,000.00 Worth of Smuggled Cigarettes Seized in San Roque

PNP personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 7 conducted checkpoint at Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City at 2:30 a.m. of May 3, 2021. The team was able to intercept a green Isuzu Elf container truck driven by Benmark Sombillo y Coreg, 30 years old, male, married, and a resident of Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay together with Aldin Sabtal y Hadjiluddin (truck man), 29 years old, male, single, native of Mahimbong, Jolo; Omar Juljani y Araji (laborer), 35 years old, male, married, a resident of Barangay Kasanyangan, Zamboanga City and Badi Abtang y Juani (laborer), 48 years old, male, single, a resident of Zone 3, Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City. Investigation disclosed that the warehouse was located in Zone 3, Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City. Personnel of the said police station together with Custom Special Police of Enforcement and Security Service, Custom Police Division proceeded to the said warehouse and were able to confiscate three hundred seventy two (372) boxes of assorted smuggled cigarettes with assorted brands like; New Berlin, Royal, Union, Tradition, Fort and New Far. Estimated value of confiscated items amounted to ₱ 13,020,000.00 confiscated items along with the container truck were brought to the warehouse of Bureau of Customs at Baliwasan Seaside, Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City. Further, it was known that the owner/operator of said smuggled cigarettes is a certain Sherwina Joe-Alihuddin (at-large) of Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City.

Top 8 Most Wanted Person of Kabasalan, Arrested

 Elements of Kabasalan Municipal Police Station conducted law enforcement operation through service of warrant of arrest at Airport Road, Barangay Tiguma, Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 12:00 p.m. of May 3, 2021. The operation resulted in the arrest of Jerry Del Monte, Aka Jerryboy, 29 years old, male, single and a resident of Barangay. Buayan, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay. The arrest was made by virtue of warrant of arrest for the crime of Rape docketed under Criminal Case No. i-7624, dated November 29, 2019, issued by Hon. Vicente S. De La Plaza, Presiding Judge, 9th Judicial Region, Branch 36, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, with no bail recommended. He is now under the custody of Kabasalan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Hacking Incident

 A hacking incident transpired at Sitio, Taplan, Moñuz, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte at about 9:00 p.m. of May 3, 2021. Victim was identified as Carlito Amacna y Empiston, 61 years old, married, farmer, while suspect was identified as Ernesto Amacna y Mendoza, 29 years old, married, farmer, son of the victim, both are residents of the said place. Initial Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, Carlito Amacna and one Reynaldo Andas Basilan were having conversation at the house of the latter when the suspect suddenly showed up and hacked the victim with the use of bolo, hitting on his left ear. After the incident, suspect fled towards unknown direction. The victim was brought to Siayan Diagnostic Center but was declared dead on arrival by the Attending Physician. Personnel of Siayan Municipal Police Station is still conducting hot pursuit operation for the arrest of the suspect.

Hacking Incident

A hacking incident transpired at Zone 7, Barangay Tulungatung, Zamboanga City at 4:20 p.m. of May 3, 2021 wherein victim was identified as Romyo Silverio Romeral, male, married, 54 years old of Zone 7, Barangay Tulungatung, Zamboanga City while suspect was identified as Rolando Bucoy y Simbulas, male, married, 53 years old of Zone 7, Barangay Tulungatung, Zamboanga City. Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, victim and suspect had a heated argument. During the argument, the suspect managed to draw his bolo and hacked the victim on his neck and on his wrist. Victim was rushed to Labuan General Hospital for medical treatment while the suspect was arrested by the responding police officers of Zamboanga City Police Station 9. Suspect is presently under the custody of Zamboanga City Police Station 9 for filing of appropriate charges in court.

Fire Incident

A fire incident transpired at Purok Talisay, Barangay Pongapong, San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur at about 7:00 a.m. of May 3, 2021 wherein the two storey Barangay Hall of Pongapong, San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur was burned, said building is made of concrete and wooden materials. Initial Investigation disclosed that the fire started at about 5:30 a.m. of May 3, 2021 which originated from the 2nd floor of said barangay hall destroying all the documents/records as well as the one unit of computer set was also burned. The cause of fire is still undetermined and this incident is still under investigation. The Bureau of Fire Protection declared fire out at about 7:20 a.m. of May 3, 2021. Estimated damage of the incident is two hundred thousand pesos (₱ 200,000.00).

Pedicab Driver Arrested in a Drug Buy-Bust Operation in Recodo

Police personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 4 conducted anti-illegal drugs operation at Barangay Recodo, Zamboanga City at 9:50 p.m. of May 3, 2021. The operation resulted in the arrest of Handel Ceriales y Ocampus a.k.a. “Handel Cerai y Ocampos”, 48 years old, male, single, pedicab driver, college level and a resident of Purok-8C, Barangay Recodo, Zamboanga City. Recovered during the operation were four (4) heat sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected Shabu with an estimated value of ₱ 2, 000.00 weighing 0.294 grams, one (1) empty transparent plastic sachet and two (2) pieces of ₱ 100.00 bills as marked money. He is now under the custody of the said police station in preparation of filing of appropriate charges in court. All recovered items will be brought to Zamboanga City Crime Laboratory Office for examination.

Boxes of Abandoned Smuggled Cigarettes Recovered in R.T. Lim

PNP personnel of R.T. Lim Municipal Police Station received a report that smuggled cigarettes were being unloaded at Purok Orchids, Barangay Gango, R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay at about 1:00 a.m. of May 4, 2021. Joint elements of R.T. Lim Municipal Police Station together with PNP Maritime Group and Zamboanga Sibugay 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company went to the said area and were able to recover ten (10) boxes of abandoned smuggled cigarettes with market value of ₱ 70,000.00. The smuggled cigarettes are now under the custody of R.T. Lim Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. Investigation is still being conducted to identify the owner of the said cigarettes.
