The joint operating troops of Butuan City Police Station (BCPS) 1 and Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) 13 arrested the topmost wanted person in the list of RACU13, charged with “identity theft”, during a law enforcement operation conducted in Butuan City last Friday, January 29.

Police Brigadier General ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR, Regional Director of PNP Caraga, identified the arrested person as Jubille U. Goloran, 23 years old, female, and a resident of Purok 24, Brgy. Baan Km. 3, Butuan City.

Goloran was arrested based on the strength of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act Number 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 issued by RTC Branch 33, Libertad, Butuan City dated January 26, 2021 with Criminal Case No. 2020-255.

The court recommends Php 80,000.00 bail bond for her temporary liberty.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel DYAN V. AGUSTIN, Officer-in-Charge of RACU13, Goloran posed as another person and used the picture of “identity theft” victim in a bogus Facebook account selling iPhones. Once payment has been received from her victims, she will deactivate the account.

The victim of “identity theft” had been receiving threats from the victims of said bogus account putting her in danger.

“This serves as a stern warning to those who are making fraudulent transactions online. You cannot escape the long arm of the law,” PBGEN CARAMAT, JR said.

The region’s top cop reminds the people to be vigilant in making online transactions and to take all necessary precautions to avoid being victimized by unscrupulous individuals. (PMAJ DOROTHY M TUMULAK, RPIO)
