AFTER completing the mass testing of its personnel, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) resumes operations on April 12 (Monday).
The government had PNR employees tested for Covid-19 between March 29 and April 8. Those who tested positive were put in isolation, while those who had direct contact with them were placed in quarantine
Those who tested negative were allowed to render duty, “but subject to a reintegration procedure through antigen testing to ensure the safety of all other PNR personnel, as well as PNR train passengers.”
The PNR was supposed to resume its operations on April 9, but this was deferred due to the pending release of the Covid-19 test results of its personnel.
“Further, PNR management likewise decided to require antigen testing for personnel prior to integration in service to ensure that no unnecessary exposure to Covid-19 was made during the time of negative RT-PCR results up to date they are required to render service, thereby reducing the risk of contamination and transmission inside PNR facilities and to the passengers,” the PNR said in a statement on Sunday.
