Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City ——- The intensified campaign against wanted persons of Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 yielded to the neutralization of a suspect who shot the arresting officers and the apprehension of three others in separate operations regionwide.
Police Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat, Jr, PRO 13 director, said that a gunfight ensued between the police operatives and the suspect Jeffrey Caparida, also known as Victor Uy, top 1 most wanted person in the town of Minglanilla, Cebu, around 5:30AM today in Brgy. Basag, Butuan City.
Caparida was about to be arrested when he drew his firearm and shot the cops. He died in the process of police operation.
Based on investigation, he had a standing warrant of arrest for murder after he was tagged in the killing of Police Corporal Omar D. Parages assigned to Minglanilla Municipal Police Station in Cebu province on October 19, 2019. He was also a member of a gun-for-hire group operating in the same town.
Meanwhile, in Brgy. San Mateo, Butuan City, police also apprehended Gorofedo B. Golle Jr. also known as Bobby Golle, 50 years old, full time member of Militia Ng Bayan under Guerilla Front Committee 4A, Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee. The implementation of warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Maregil S Dagani-Hugo, RTC Branch 3, Butuan City was conducted around 3:30PM on September 22. The suspect was charged with Arson.
Yesterday, Edgardo P. Alcantara Jr, 35 years old, and resident of Tagcatong, Carmen, Agusan del Norte was nabbed by the police in Brgy. Poblacion, Carmen town based on the strength of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Marigel S. Dagani-Hugo of Regional Trial Court, Branch 3, Butuan City for frustrated murder. He was listed as Top 1 Most Wanted Person in the aforesaid municipality.
Julie L. Martinez also known as ‘’Jul’’, 49 years old, was captured in his residence in Brgy. Purisima, Tago, Surigao del Sur on September 22. Presiding Judge Hon. Charmee R. Abad of the 3rdMunicipal Trial Court, Tago-San Miguel, Surigao del Sur issued the warrant of arrest for Robbery.
RD Caramat, Jr said that the success of the manhunt operations is attributed to the intensified anti-criminality campaign of PRO13 and the strong partnership between the police and the community. He also lauded the troops for bringing the suspects behind bars and answer the charges filed against them in the court of law.
