PHL reports 665 new Covid-19 cases, lowest daily count in 2021

The Department of Health (DOH) logged 665 additional Covid-19 cases on Monday, the lowest number of infections recorded yet for 2021, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,832,275.

Dr. Alethea De Guzman, DOH Epidemiology Bureau director, meanwhile, said that the country is still at low risk case classification while all regions at minimal to low-risk case classification with health systems capacity at low risk.

De Guzman also said that if the current average daily attack rate or ADAR of 1.02 per 100,000 individuals will improve to below 1, the country will be deescalated to a minimal risk case classification.

She said that only Catanduanes in Region 5 is under the Alert Level 4 status while 116 (96 percent )of areas are now under Alert Level 2 with minimal to low risk case classification and low utilization rates.

Covid-19 and ICU beds

De Guzman reported that the national total Covid-19 beds capacity at low risk at 22 percent utilization.

Compared to July, current dedicated beds are higher by 2,211 (6.3 percent ) and admissions are lower by 7,950 (50 percent).

The National total Covid-19 ICU beds capacity at low risk at 27 percent utilization.

Compared to July, current dedicated ICU beds are higher by 310 (9 percent) and ICU admissions are lower by 880 (47 percent)

Percentage of critical cases among confirmed admissions has plateaued while percentage of severe has started to decline starting end-October.

As of November 21, there were 3,143 Total admissions: Severe Cases – 567 (18 percent) and Critical Cases – 255 (8 percent).

Deaths

Meanwhile, national deaths in November was at 32 deaths per day.

The National Capital Region, Regions 1,2 , 3, and 7 among the regions with highest deaths.

Covid cases

The DOH also recorded 993 recoveries and 141 deaths.

Of the total number of infections, 0.6 percent (16,289) are active cases, 97.7 percent (2,767,585) have recovered, and 1.71 percent (48,501) have died.

Ten duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 8 are recoveries and 1 is a death.

In addition, 87 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count. These 87 are recoveries.

Moreover, 129 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Two laboratories were not operational on November 27, 2021 while 3 labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

Based on data in the last 14 days, the 5 labs contribute, on average, 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.5 percent of positive individuals.
