The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte deployed members of its Contact Tracing Team (CTT) on July 22 to cities and towns hit by the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

PGIN has assigned contact tracers to various municipalities, with most of them to the city of Laoag, to boost disease containment and mitigation efforts.

CTT conducted a wider and more aggressive surveillance testing in high-risk areas to abate the further spread of the virus.

PGIN’s CTT has been performing a vital role in the rapid containment of COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic, proving their reliable emergency response outbreak after outbreak.

Out the 23 component LGUs of Ilocos Norte, 10 were placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine by Governor Marcos Manotoc, based on the recommendation of LGU chief, due to the large increase of COVID-19 cases observed in each locality.

Meanwhile, earlier today, President Rodrigo R. Duterte placed the whole province under General Community Quarantine with strict restrictions, upon the request of Gov. Marcos Manotoc and the recommendation of the National IATF-EID.
