In line with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Modernization Program, Coast Guard District Northeastern Mindanao (CGDNEM) is establishing a PCG Boat House Facility at Nueva Extension, Brgy. Taft, Surigao City wherein an influx of maritime traffic is present and visible.
The PCG Boat House Project is an initiative of CGDNEM which will be utilized as billeting of personnel particularly Coast Guard Special Operations Unit (CGSOU) who are specialized in the Maritime Search and Rescue, Maritime Security and Maritime Law Enforcement mandates of PCG.
The facility likewise serves as safekeeping area of PCG’s floating assets to be able to swiftly respond as well as showcase the PCG’s capacity and capabilities in responding emergency situations or untoward incidents.
The construction of a PCG Boat House in the area is significantly beneficial to Surigaonons as well as to PCG due to its location that is very ideal and strategic in monitoring all the maritime activities and address marine environmental concerns which includes in the Maritime Safety Administration and Marine Environmental Protection mandates of the PCG.
