DAVAO CITY—Fourteen interior barangays in Panabo City, Davao del Norte would be expecting soon an improved potable water supply system from a new project donated by the office of Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

The project would be powered by solar energy, both the water system and the pump system, and would be coursed through the Department of Public Works and Highways.

The project would be implemented this year, said Mayor Jose E. Relampagos, who met the senator in the city to discuss the other requirement of the project. Relampagos said the following barangays would benefit from the solar-powered water system:  Kauswagan, Cacao, Waterfall, Katualan, Kasilak, Consolacion, Dalisay, Kiotoy, Mabunao, New Malitbog, Buenavista, Katipunan, San Nicolas and Manay.

Dalisay Barangay Captain Joanne D. Buco said more than 500 residents would benefit from the project.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources distributed tilapia and fresh and dried bangus to 265 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Panabo City last month.

Also, the police in the city held an anti-illegal drugs information drive in Barangay Maduao Gym, also last month, under the Revitalized Philippine National Police Kasimbayanan and BIDA program.

Their target audience among the tribal communities and drug users attended the community gathering as the police gave tips on early warning signs that a family member is already into illegal drugs.

Senior Master Sergeant Randy Sta. Maria urged families to ensure proper guidance to their children. The community information drive was also accompanied by a skills training on liquid detergent-making as well as free hair cut to attendees.
