Camp Sang-an, Zamboanga del Sur – The 101st Infantry (Three Red Arrows) Brigade, Philippine Army, celebrates its 21st Founding Anniversary Tuesday, October 26, at the Brigade headquarters in Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan.

The celebration was graced by the Commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom), AFP, Maj. Gen. Alfredo V. Rosario Jr..

For 21 years, the 101st Bde has accomplished a lot amidst limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Brigade recorded a series of successful combat operations, neutralized 13 Abu Sayyaf Group members, confiscated high-powered firearms, contributed to the arrest of 21 drug pushers and some illegal loggers in the province.

With the unit’s countless achievements, Brig. Gen. Domingo B. Gobway, the Commander of 101st Bde, presented an award to deserving military personnel and its stakeholders. Plaques of appreciation were given to the local chief executives from the different municipalities of Basilan Province for their support and contributions in the conduct of various Community Support Programs (CSP) and the Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Program.

Likewise, Brig. Gen. Gobway mentioned the brigade’s efforts to facilitate the settlement of family feuds or rido of 22 families.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Rosario, the guest of honor during the celebration, commended the 101st Bde and highlighted four accomplishments that significantly contributed to the transformation of Basilan.

“Ating binibigyang pugay ang inyong agresibong papapatupad sa SALW Program, ang inyong masigasig na pagpapatupad ng rido settlement, ang inyong masiglang engagament sa peace-inclined armed groups na binubuo ng MILF at MNLF,” said Rosario.

“Last is your close and effective engagement with the LGU and the people of Basilan. You have won Basilan’s hearts and minds in such a way they trusted you and looked highly of you,” he added.

Commander WestMinCom further urged the military personnel to continue their good works, efforts, and the right attitude to help the province achieve its dream of being a peaceful and progressive place.
