CENRO Ramon Magsaysay collaborated with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur, for a two-day training and workshop on updating the Mahayag Forestland Use Plan (FLUP) at the Four Queens Hotel, Pagadian City on July 9-10.
Forty-two participants attended, including personnel from DENR-IX, PENRO Zamboanga del Sur, CENRO Guipos, and CENRO RM, as well as LGU Mahayag municipal officials led by Mayor Manuel T. Saladaga, staff, and heads of various offices such as MPDC, MPDO, MENRO, DA, MLGOO, Municipal Assessors, DAR, NCIP representatives, and Barangay Chairpersons.
The objective is to present the LGU’s drafted FLUP from 2016-2026 to DENR and other bodies for feedback.
CENRO Rago expressed gratitude to the LGU Mahayag for involving their office in updating the plan and believes the plan alteration will be completed promptly with the participation of the technical working committees.
Municipal Planning Development Coordinator Juvelyn Vitacura noted that the plan was crafted in 2016 but not endorsed for legalization. Mayor Saladaga also acknowledged the DENR-IX resource persons for their valuable input in executing the plan.
Resource speakers Forester Arby Kane Bella, Forester Jimmy Maglasang, and Forester Renato Sapalo discussed the FLUP’s goals, strategies, structure, and plans for implementation.
The workshop concluded with a commitment from all participants to work together in successfully updating and implementing the Mahayag Forestland Use Plan.
