The City Government of Surigao recently conducted a Road Traffic Safety Seminar aimed at promoting road safety awareness among the local community.
The seminar, held on October 19, 2023, covered a wide range of topics, including Road Traffic Safety, Values and Ethics, Anti-Bastos Law, Ordinance no. 300 Series 2010, Traffic Law Enforcement, Spiritual Enhancement, and R.A. 4136 Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
Surigao City Traffic Management Office Head PCPT Robert M. Paredes discussed the importance of the seminar to the attendees.
A total of 214 attendees, including tricycle owners and drivers, PUV drivers, Bao-bao drivers, and private vehicle drivers attended the seminar.
The seminar aimed to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills to navigate the city’s roads safely and efficiently.
Key takeaways included route planning to avoid traffic congestion, timing travel during non-peak hours, staying informed about the latest traffic reports, using alternative routes to avoid aggressive driving, signaling lane changes and turns, and maintaining patience during daily commutes.
The seminar emphasized the importance of safe driving practices to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries on the road, including the mandatory use of helmets and other safety equipment.
