The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) here reminded their personnel to be responsible in using their issued firearms, especially during the holiday season.

Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, deputy public information officer of NOCPPO, said there would be no muzzle taping of the local policemen’s firearms unless the higher command issues an order to do so.

Donasco said they trust their personnel that they are responsible enough to handle their firearms since they will be primarily using them for law enforcement activities.

She added that their issued firearms should be used to strengthen security and not for use outside their work.

Donasco said that if a police officer is caught involved in stray bullet incidents or any gun-related incident, they will face an investigation and sanctions.

Earlier, NOCPPO announced that most of their personnel, particularly those assigned in police stations, will be deployed to secure the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations while also monitoring those who violate the health protocols amid the pandemic.
