The national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assisted 411 fire victims in Baliwasan Seaside Thursday morning.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Jade Jamolod said, this is the whole of government approach. The program of President Rodrigo Duterte and the Initiative of Senator Christopher Lawrence Go.
During the activity, beneficiaries were given P5,000 cash from the DSWD, cash from Senator Go, food, groceries, facemask, face shield, hygiene kits, medicines, and others.
Eight tablets and eight bikes were also raffled for the beneficiaries.
Jamolod said, “In five days, we immediately gave the assistance.”
He added that in the days to come, Emergency Housing Assistance Program will also be given P30,000 to these beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, Ruth Guiran, widow, with two children, and a resident of the area for 47 years said. “Hende kame tan expect ansina el ayuda del gobyerno nohay sila deha conel Baliwasan Seaside.”
She was asking hopefully, someday they can rebuild their house.
Recall, last March 20 fire broke at Baliwasan Seaside leaving these beneficiaries homeless. They are now housed at Baliwasan Central School. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
