Nasa 300,000 na mahirap na college student makatatanggap ng subsidy — CHED

Makatatanggap na ng subsidy ang nasa 300,000 mahirap na estudyante sa kolehiyo mula sa gobyerno.

Ito’y makaraang lagdaan ang isang memorandum of agreement sa pagitan ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) at mga private higher education institution – Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UNIFAST).

Bahagi ito ng implementasyon ng Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) na isa sa apat na pangunahing nilalaman ng naturang Republic Act 10931 o Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.

Ayon kay CHED at UNIFAST Governing Board Chairman Prospero De Vera, nasa P16 billion ang ilalaan ng national government na subsidiya.

Makikinabang sa subsidy ang tinatayang 300,000 mahirap na estudyanteng mag-e-enroll para sa schoolyear 2018-2019 o katumbas ng P40,000 hanggang P60,000 benefits kada taon.

Saklaw ng subsidya ang tuition at iba pang school fees, allowance para sa mga libro books, transportation, supplies, board and lodging fees at iba pang education expenses.
