“Mr. President, I hope that Congress would not let itself become for normalization of martial law in Mindanao. We must not let this happen, when our brothers and sisters in Mindanao can no longer rely on their government to bring back normalcy in their lives they peal our hope on us, the legislators, let us not fail them.”

“This new extension poses a new a new set of threats. Specifically, because the new extension period will cover the May 2019 elections. The Executive has intimated that martial law will ensure the orderly conduct of elections, and that it would prevent the violence and lawlessness from tarnishing the electoral process.” Ani Hontiveros.
