THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) continues celebrating National Women’s Month Celebration by featuring a mother-daughter bonding of world-class paddlers Maribeth Caranto and Rosalyn Esguerra on Saturday’s episode of Rise Up! Shape Up!

Caranto was a member of the 2018 Philippine national dragonboat team that won the gold medal in the 2018 International Canoe Federation World Dragonboat Championships.

Esguerra will also share how her mother made both ends meet for the family when her father died when she was just one year old. Caranto fulfilled her responsibility while encouraging Esguerra to pursue a career as a paddler.

“As a mother, you can exercise great influence on your daughter’s passion for sports or lifelong pursuit of physical fitness,” PSC Women in Sports Oversight Commissioner Celia Kiram said. “The eagerness of your daughters to get into sports starts from you, mothers.”

“The PSC is renewing its dedication, despite the pandemic, to tap the women in the sports sector to be more creative in its campaign to increase the number of girls engaged in sports,” Kiram added.

Licensed psychologist and Philippine Association of Child and Play Therapy’s Riza Ng will join the episode for a short talk on mindful parenting and tips on how to practice mindfulness in the various parenting styles.

For Kwentong Isport, Kiram will share an interesting story about indigenous Filipino boats which are part of the country’s unique culture.
