More Marijuana Seized In Sulu

Camp Bautista, Jolo, Sulu – A joint follow-up operation of Marine Battalion Team -7 and other law enforcement units raided another marijuana plantation estimated to contain P760K worth of marijuana at Sitio Kanbasih, Brgy. Masjid Punjungan, Kalingalang Caluang, Sulu on March 31, 2021.

According to 4th Marine Brigade and Naval Task Group Sulu Commander Col. Hernanie S. Songano, it is a follow-up operation in connection with March 26, 2021 raiding of two marijuana plantations at Kalingalang Caluang, Sulu. “Yesterday, we’ve found three sites that are located at Brgy Masjid Punjungan covering more or less one hectare of fully grown marijuana and is allegedly owned by a certain Jaju,” Col Songano said.

“This was all made possible by our concerted efforts with the PDEA- Sulu and Provincial Intel Unit-Sulu PPO. We have burned the marijuana on site and continue to keep an eye on the aforesaid area,” he added.

Last week, the same joint operating forces around P80K worth of shabu and have seized marijuana plantations pegged to worth P21M both at  Kalingalang Caluang on March 25 and March 26, respectively.

For his part, Joint Task Force – Sulu Commander MGen William N Gonzales commended the Marines and other agencies in the second district of Sulu for their persistence in tracking down plantations. “All in all six sites of marijuana plantations were raided by our marines for the first quarter of 2021. Definitely, this will have an enduring effect on the peace and order of the province.”  (Joint Task Force Sulu)
