Militia Ng Bayan Nabbed By Taganaan Police Over Loose Firearm; Grenade And Caliber .45, Confiscated

In line with the continuing efforts of Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 against members and supporters of the Communist Terrorist Group, an NPA in the barrio (Militia ng Bayan) under Guerilla Front Committee 16, Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee was arrested during the implementation of Search Warrant against loose firearms in Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte today, March 4.

Police Brigadier General ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR, PRO13 Director, identified the arrested person as Danilo H. Casaquet, 52 years old, a resident of Purok-3, Brgy. Upper Libas, Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte.

Armed with Search Warrant No. 2021-010 issued by 10th Judicial Region, 3rd Municipal Circuit Trial Court, Placer-Bacuag, Placer, Surigao del Norte dated February 24, 2021, personnel of Tagana-an Municipal Police Station implemented the search warrant around 7:10 AM.

Said operation was witnessed by local officials of said barangay and resulted in the confiscation of one M76 rifle grenade and one silver STI EDGE caliber .45 pistol with magazine and five ammunition and the arrest of Casaquet.

Tagana-an police are now preparing cases for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Republic Act No. 9516 (An Act Further Amending the Provisions of P. D. No. 1866, as Amended, Entitled Codifying the Laws on Illegal/Unlawful Possession, Manufacture, Dealing in, Acquisition or Disposition of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives or Instruments Used in the Manufacture of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives, and Imposing Stiffer Penalties for Certain Violations thereof and for Other Relevant Purposes) against the arrested person.

“One of the marching orders of our Chief, Philippine National Police, POLICE GENERAL DEBOLD M. SINAS is to account loose firearms throughout the country to ensure that no unlicensed firearms and/or explosives will fall into the hands of unlawful individuals. Rest assured that your police will continue to enforce the law to ensure the safety and security of the people,” PBGEN CARAMAT, JR. said.
