Police authorities implemented search warrant against an active member of Militia ng Bayan under Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 16B yielding loose firearms and explosives around 2:28 PM yesterday, March 1.
Police Colonel Noel C Espinoza, Provincial Director divulged that the collaboration of Provincial Intelligence Unit SDN, 1st SDN Provincial Mobile Force Company and Mainit Municipal Police Station operatives apprehended suspect identified as Lucricio S. Cuesta Jr., 33 years old, a resident of Purok-Sampaguita, Brgy. San Isidro, Mainit, Surigao del Norte.
Search Warrant was issued by 5TH Municipal Circuit Trial Court, Tubod-Alegria,10Th Judicial Region, SDN, dated February 22, 2021 for Violation of RA 10591 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”
Confiscated from suspect were one rifle grenade; one plastic container; one plastic cup; one colt caliber .45 pistol with serial number 351818; one magazine of caliber .45 pistol; four pieces of ammunition of caliber .45 ; five pieces of ammunition of 5.56MM and a sling bag.
Cuesta also has a standing warrant of arrest for crime of murder dated June 27, 2019 for the alleged killing of Johnny Y. Bernadez, Barangay Kagawad of Magtangale, San Francisco, SDN.
“We are serious in our thrust against loose firearms, insurgency and all forms of criminality. I call on Surigaonons to continue your unwavering support in our intensified operations to halt those who opt for the armed struggle,” PD Espinoza concluded.
