Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte dismissed as rumours the information the city is reverting to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) after two months.

“Wala na tay two months nga lockdown because we cannot afford (it), although naay mga tao na kayanon nila nga two months dili mugawas sa ilahang balay, mas daghan ang tao nga dili pwede mag two months lockdown,” she said over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday.

Mayor Inday said that what the city is currently doing is managing all the confirmed cases and fast-tracking contact tracing. But she admitted that Covid-19 is here to stay.

Mayor Inday on Monday said the entire city might be placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) or extend the GCQ after May 31, if the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases was to be considered.

“Kung ako lang, mag forecast lang ko base sa number sa SPMC, its either GCQ or MGCQ. Basta wala lay mahitabo between now until May 31, anything na dako, it’s either GCQ or MGCQ ni siya,” she said.

Mayor Inday, however, made it clear that the decision remained with the national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF). Although if she would base on the figure coming out of the Southern Philippine Medical Center (SPMC), the city can remain under GCQ or MGCQ.

As of May 25, the city has a total of 235 confirmed cases since the outbreak started. Only 99 of the cases are still active as 111 have recovered and 25 have died.

“Gikan sa May 1 ang atoang positive sa SPMC niabot tag 100, karong adlawa (May 25) 99. Basehan lang nako ni nga number, kani lang ang akoang basehan ha pero ang atong IATF duna silay ginagamit na measurement naa na silay sistema and measurement kung unsa na klase na quarantine ka,” she said.
