Mayor Magalong Warns Uncooperative Individuals Entering Baguio

With the intensified anti COVID-19  mitigating measures being implemented in the city of Baguio,  Mayor Benjie Magalong warned any person who shall refuse or declare as required or who shall provide false information on their health declaration form shall be dealt with accordingly as provided by law.

Effective 7:00 AM on March 15, 2020, joint PNP/Health Service set up checkpoints in all major roads leading to Baguio. All travelers on board private or public transport vehicles are required to execute and submit pre-filled out HEALTH DECLARATION FORMS indicating the following:

  1. Name, age, sex, nationality;
  2. Present Address;
  3. Contact details;
  4. Date and time of travel/arrival,
  5. Occupation/Profession;
  6. Place of work;
  7. Statement of illness in the last 30 days; and
  8. Seat number and bus company name (for PUV passengers);
  9. Place to stay in while in Baguio City
  10. Travelers on private vehicles can create their own filled out forms

On the omnibus advisories from the Baguio City COVID-19 Inter Agency Task Force:

Residents and visitors in Baguio City are advised to be home by 10:00 PM except those working on night shift;

Tourists planning to visit Baguio are requested to postpone their trips.

Persons coming to the city from COVID-19-affected areas must observe strict self-quarantine for a period of 14 days upon arrival in coordination with the designated Barangay Health Emergency Team in the barangay where they are staying;

Thermal Scanning — The DOH/City Health Office with the assistance of BCPO-PNP and AFP shall conduct thermal scanning of travelers at each entry point to Baguio to identify persons that may be considered as persons under Monitoring/Investigation (PUMs/PUIs);

Panic Buying- All Baguio residents and visitors are encouraged to buy food, groceries, and medical supplies in a quantity necessary only for a period of two (2) to three (3) days or in such quantity as the Department of Trade and Industry or any appropriate government agency will determine or provide. All establishments selling food, supermarkets, grocery and convenience stores, drugstores and other establishments selling medical supplies are directed to limit or manage the selling of their merchandises in consonance with the directives, advice, orders and other issuances of national government agencies. Any establishment, supermarket, grocery store, convenience store, or drugstore reported to have been negligent in its obligation as provided by law, rules and regulations, ordinance and any other legal issuances shall be a ground for cancellation/revocation of business permit.

Business Sanitation- All business establishments, bus company owners and operators and other public transport service providers, businesses engaged in hospitality and tourism industry and businesses engaged in any kind of accommodation, such as but not limited to: hotels, motels, inns, lodging houses, and transient houses, restaurants, bars, and all establishments offering food, beverages, liquor, drinks and other kinds of refreshment, are directed to observe proper hand and respiratory hygiene pursuant to the advice and recommendations of the DOH, to reduce exposure to and transmission of COVID-19. They are further directed to ensure that all contact surfaces such as door knobs, handrails, tables, chairs, and similar objects are adequately disinfected and sanitized, and that the general surroundings are maintained clean at all times. All bus, jitney, taxi and other public utility vehicles, conductors, food servers and handles and all employees in the receiving line of the said businesses are directed to wear face masks;

Non-cooperation of persons and entities that should report and/or respond to the COVID-19 shall be charged in accordance with Sections 9 and 10 of Republic Act No. 11332.

Major parks in the city are all closed:

As part of our precautionary measure against COVID-19, the following parks will be closed temporarily for 14 days beginning March 16: Children’s Park, Dominican Hill & Heritage Park, Mines View Park, and Botanical Garden.

Likewise, special permits granted to concessionaires such as boating, biking, stalls, restaurants and roving vendors within city parks are temporarily suspended for 14 days beginning March 16.

This is to discourage people from roaming and instead they should stay at their homes.
